What we can learn from gaming

Gamers understand to make a successful game, they need to do the following:

  1. Design the game with the user in mind.
  2. Provide continuous feedback.
  3. Make it challenging enough that the user is interested, but not impossible that they will quit in frustration. (Flow theory)
  4. Work with an end in mind.

Sound like a good model for  school?

I wish that I could say this was a totally original idea but there are so many influences in this thinking with gaming and flow theory.  Below is a GREAT video on the subject.
