Gamers understand to make a successful game, they need to do the following:
- Design the game with the user in mind.
- Provide continuous feedback.
- Make it challenging enough that the user is interested, but not impossible that they will quit in frustration. (Flow theory)
- Work with an end in mind.
Sound like a good model for school?
I wish that I could say this was a totally original idea but there are so many influences in this thinking with gaming and flow theory. Below is a GREAT video on the subject.
