Creating Opportunities For Conversation

It is essential that we are open, honest, and transparent in the ways that we communicate with our parents.  If we are not able to justify, “why” we do the things we do, then we should not be moving forward with them.  As parents needs to be partners in education, we have to be open to back and forth communication.  It is also beneficial when all stakeholders are open to learning to  furth their own knowledge.

Below is a real-life example that happened within our own school.  As we opened the way to have iPods in the classroom, not everyone agreed and some parents were unsure of why we were doing this.  Fortunately, they were definitely open to the conversation.  If you go through the slides, you will see the transition in thought below:

I believe this is a great example of the conversations that we can have with parents through our blogs. Blogging is not the ONLY form of communication in our schools, but definitely opens up some doors to conversation in an open and transparent forum.
