Recently I had another opportunity to contribute to the Bam Radio Network, discussing the need for courage in education. These opportunities not only allow me to share my viewpoints, but listen and learn from others.
As a Canadian educator, it was interesting that I had the opportunity to talk about Michelle Rhee during this interview. The term “courage” was used when discussing her initiatives, to which I countered that there is a difference between courage and recklesness. It is always essential that we do our best to have initiatives done with educators, not done to them.
Courage is something that is essential to leading our way forward, but should also be based on informed decisions. Using a bungee chord and jumping off a bridge, not knowing how long the rope is, is not courage, it’s (Add your own ending here).
